KIDS GOT GEARS (1) progressed nicely last start to finish a close third over 1400m at Trentham after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Looks well placed so expect another big run. DAMIANO (2) resumed from a spell last start with a sound second over 1400m at Waverley. Likely improver with strong prospects. MERKEL (10) is a three-start maiden who could only manage to finish fourth after being in the firing line on the bend at her latest appearance over 1650m at Waverley. Expected to feature in the finish this time. MELONI (4) was well in commission on his debut over 1300m at Otaki back on February 9 and finished sixth, beaten 5 lengths. Will take a lot from that last run and is worth following up.
