MARIA PILAR (7) ran well on debut last start to finish second over 1200m at this track in a tougher race. Likely improver so she will be hard to beat. FLYIN' THE PIN (8) is a four-year-old import having her first run for the Amber Hoffman stable. Hasn't raced since she finished sixth over 1200m at Newcastle five months ago. Not seen at the trials but she should feature in the finish. GLADIUS (4) has not raced since his debut back on June 2 when he finished sixth over 1100m at Wingatui. Blinkers come off; expected to run well. RED MOON RISING (1) finished 3.5 lengths from the winner in fourth at his most recent outing over 1200m at Wingatui after he got a long way back in the run. Cannot be ruled out in this suitable assignment.
