QUAGMIRE (4) is back after a break of four-and-a-half months. At the last run before the layoff he finished fifth over 1600m at Ascot. Tuned up with a fourth in a recent trial at Belmont Park. Has ability and can get off the mark. RANYX (1) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1400m at Pinjarra Scarpside, beaten 2.5 lengths into fourth after being in contention on the bend. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run this time. METALIC MARLIN (3) showed little early dash when resuming last start but found the line strongly to get up for third, beaten 2.5 lengths, over this course and distance. Will be doing his best work late. ANKAREEDA (9) is a first-starter by Brutal from Sentimental Star who has been a prolific producer including winners at black type level. Coming along well at the trials with a win at her most recent at Lark Hill. Has the aid of a nice alley and any market lead would add to the confidence.
