COVERT THINKING (6) faced the starter for the first time and finished tenth last start at Hawkesbury over 1300m, beaten 4.5 lengths. Likely improver and worth following up. TAWFIQ TOM (4) is close to breaking through, last start finishing just half a length away in second over 1500m at Port Macquarie. Goes up a rung or two but he is worth serious consideration. BUCKENARA (1) wasn't far off maiden success before a four months break, finishing the prep with a minor placing at Randwick. Ran fourth in a recent trial at Randwick. Solid top-three hope.
