CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT (5) could only manage fourth when resuming two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 1000m at Pakenham, beaten only a nose after being in contention on the corner. It doesn't get any easier but on his best form he is right in contention. DAELLA (9) is struggling to find the winners' circle but has been around the mark, last start finishing third over 1000m at Pakenham. Yet to miss the frame from five starts at this trip, including a win, so she is a leading contender. MACHINIST (2) has been in the placings at both runs this prep, most recently a closing second over 1000m at Sandown-Hillside. Fitter and a solid top-three hope again. POCKET SIZE (6) scored last start at Ballarat to make it two wins from four starts this campaign. Harder here but can figure in the finish.
