Looms as one of the hardest to beat again. ON THE RIVER (1) resumed over 1600m at Ripon last time out and finished second, beaten one length. Has a strong record when second-up, including two wins, and will strip much fitter for this. One of the better chances. PARTISAN HERO (7) has scored at his last two starts, most recently by 1.3 lengths over 1600m at this track as favourite. That continued the solid form this campaign, with two wins and three minor placings from five starts. Expect a bold showing. ZOFFANDIA (5) got the prize two runs ago but was less impressive last time out when 12th over 1700m at Wolverhampton, beaten 9 lengths. Nicely placed to figure in the finish.
