BELLA MONTAGNA (5) closed last campaign with back-to-back placings, the last of which was at Ellerslie four-and-a-half months ago. One of the leading chances. BUCKENARA (2) showed good early dash when resuming last start and held on well to finish 0.8 lengths back in third over 1500m at Newcastle. Nicely placed to go a couple better. COVERT THINKING (6) ran a better race last start at her second trip to the races, finishing second over 1500m at Newcastle. Coming along nicely and should be in the finish. BANXI (1) was beaten 2.75 lengths into sixth at the second run back from a break over 1550m at Canterbury last time out. Well placed and can figure in the finish this time.
