HUGHES (12) built on a nice third two starts back at Caulfield with success over 1400m at this track three weeks ago, getting home by 1.3 lengths. Logan Bates scored on him last time and retains the ride. Goes up a rung or two but he is worth serious consideration. STEP ASIDE (17) won first up at Randwick then finished third last time out over 1400m at this track, beaten 1.75 lengths. Has never been out of the placings at the third run in so a top-three finish is on the cards. CAFE MILLENIUM (10) resumed last start over 1200m and finished fifth at Caulfield, 1.5 lengths from the winner. May appreciate the longer journey now coming in with a good weight and is worth including among the main hopes. THE OPEN (15) finished third last start over 1400m at this track when he made late ground, beaten 2.25 lengths. Placed to advantage so expect a forward showing.
