Our best bet for Friday’s AFL Semi-Final between Fremantle and Geelong is the Geelong +10.5 / Atkins 15+ Disposals / Jackson 20+ Disposals / Erasmus 15+ Disposals Same Game Multi at $6.50, with the Cats winning seven straight and the Dockers winning just one of their last four, while Fremantle covering just twice from nine games as favourites of 20 points or less this season.

The minor premiers get another chance on Friday night, heading back to Optus Stadium to face a seasoned Geelong outfit riding a seven-game winning streak.

Fremantle Dockers vs Geelong Cats

Fremantle went through the home and away season unbeaten at Optus Stadium, then had the Hawks’ pressure hold them to 40 points last Thursday, their lowest score of the year. The good news for the Dockers is that Geelong’s style is a bit different to Hawthorn’s, which may work in their favour.

That being said, this Geelong team has primed their season perfectly with a huge back-half run into finals, winning their last seven games. As for the Dockers, they’ve won just one of their last four.

It was close in Round 15 with the Dockers winning by just nine points, but Geelong adds Tom Stewart and Bailey Smith this time around.

Leg 1 – Geelong +10.5

The Cats and Dockers have played twice this season, and the margin has been ten points or less both times.

Geelong is definitely the form team of the two, with Fremantle potentially peaking too early this season, winning just one of their last four games and not really looking themselves since the second half against the Swans in Round 18.

The Cats had their slump mid-season but have turned the corner from Round 19 onwards, winning the last seven games. They lost to the Dockers by nine points last time they met at Optus Stadium in Round 15, but were without Bailey Smith, Tom Stewart and Gryan Miers.

When the Dockers have been favourites by 20 points or less this season, they have only managed to cover in two of those nine games, losing the last three.

Leg 2 – Tom Atkins 15+ Disposals

Tom Atkins has produced 15+ disposals in 21 of his 24 games this season, including his last 13.

He’s been solid against the Dockers too, hitting 15+ on both occasions this season including 21 in Geelong’s Round 15 loss, and has hit the mark in four of his last five against Fremantle.

Atkins has been consistent in finals for the Cats. Since moving into the midfield in 2022 he’s gone 6 from 8 in September, with the only two misses both coming against Brisbane. Last year’s finals saw Atkins go 17, 25 and 20, and in last week’s Elimination Final he produced another 20.

Leg 3 – Luke Jackson 20+ Disposals

Nobody gives up more to ruckmen than Geelong this season. Over the last ten rounds the Cats have conceded 30% more disposals to opposition rucks than the league average, along with 43% more goals and 22% more tackles.

Jackson has been huge against the Cats this season with 27 disposals in Round 1 followed by 28 in Fremantle’s Round 12 win, his two highest disposal games of the season.

The big man had 22 disposals last week in Fremantle’s Qualifying Final, and with their season on the line I think he’ll go bigger in this.

Leg 4 – Neil Erasmus 15+ Disposals

Was one of the few Dockers to show up last week, with Neil Erasmus finishing with an equal season-high 24 disposals in their loss to the Hawks.

In Erasmus’ last eight games at Optus Stadium he’s hit 15+ disposals, and the wingman has played well against the Cats this season.

Erasmus had 24 disposals in Round 15 against Geelong, his equal season-high alongside last week, and 21 disposals in their Round 1 clash.

Same Game Multi
