Our best bet for Friday’s AFL clash between Brisbane and Hawthorn is the Brisbane / Neale 25+ Disposals / Gunston 3+ Goals / Ward 20+ Disposals Same Game Multi at $5.00, with the Lions expected to bounce back at the Gabba and Hawthorn covering the line just once from nine games against top-eight opposition this season.

Big game of Friday night football, with both the Lions and Hawks looking to lock away a top-four spot.

Brisbane Lions vs Hawthorn Hawks

Big game for both teams as they look to lock away their place in the top-four.

The Lions came back down to earth with a thud with a second-rate performance against the Blues, while the Hawks will face their first top-eight team in the last five weeks.

Brisbane won both matchups against Hawthorn last year. Can the Lions bounce back from last week’s shocker?

Leg 1 – Brisbane

This is a tricky one reflected by the tightness of the odds, but we’ve seen Brisbane bounce back from their howlers over the last few seasons.

Another factor is Hawthorn’s form against top-eight opposition this year. The Hawks are 4-4 and a draw across nine games against the top-eight this season, but when we look at their coverage rate, they’ve covered the line just once from those nine games.

Hawthorn have the equal-second lowest line coverage rate of any team this season, and while defensive question marks surround the Lions, they did beat Geelong and Sydney just a month back.

Leg 2 – Jack Gunston 3+ Goals

Although I think the Lions get it done at their home ground, it won’t be a low scoring grind.

Brisbane are prone to conceding bags of 3+ goals to opposition players this season. In fact, they’ve conceded 3+ goals to opposition players more than any other team this season, doing so on 33 occasions.

Jack Gunston kicked seven against the Bombers two weeks back, and although he only kicked two against North Melbourne last week he still had seven scoring shots. He’ll get another great look in this against his old team.

Leg 3 – Lachie Neale 25+ Disposals

Generally Neale is automatic for 25+ disposals. In his last 11 games against the Hawks, Neale has averaged 29.7 disposals while hitting 25+ in ten of those 11 games.

In 2026, Neale is averaging 30.2 disposals and has hit 25+ in 17 of the 20 games, with that average jumping up to 31.7 disposals at the Gabba.

I don’t expect the Hawks to do a defensive job on the two-time Brownlow Medalist in this.

Leg 4 – Josh Ward 20+ Disposals

Stable role and stable numbers for Josh Ward in 2026.

We’re seeing Ward at centre bounce around 55-60% of the time, averaging 22.7 disposals per game this season, and his confidence has grown as the season has gone on.

From Round 7 onwards, Ward has averaged 23.4 disposals and has hit 20+ disposals in 13 of those 14 games.

Same Game Multi
