Although both the Suns and Hawks are well and truly in the finals mix, neither team enters Round 15 in great form. Will it be the Gold Coast breaking their three-game losing streak?

Gold Coast will look to break the losing streak when they host the Hawks in Friday Night Footy, entering Round 15 off the back of three straight losses.

Hawthorn isn’t exactly setting the world on fire though, despite sitting in fifth place on the ladder. The Hawks have won just two of their last six games before the bye, but do bolster up their defensive stocks with Tom Barrass returning.

When these two teams met in Tasmania in Round 7, it was the Hawks by 49 points. What’s in store when they meet at the Gold Coast on Friday night?

Although the Hawks have only won two of their last six, they’re still in much better form than the Suns who have been out of sorts lately, really since their last quarter against the Power in Darwin. Since the last of their two Darwin games, they’ve lost three straight, with their last two by an average of 38 points.

The issue for the Suns has been their form when they’re either an underdog or favourite with a tight line of -13.5 or shorter. From those six occasions this season, they’re 1-5, and have failed to win in their three games as an underdog in 2026.

From those five losses, the average losing margin is 32.6 points, so they haven’t really been close. Have to think the Hawks will bounce back, bolstered by the inclusion of Tom Barrass.

Josh Ward’s centre bounce time has been consistent for most of this season, and his attendances remained around 55% with Will Day back in the team.

Ward is averaging 22.2 disposals per game this season, and is coming off a season-high 29 against the Bulldogs in Round 13.

He has hit 20+ disposals in his last seven games, and with how poor the Gold Coast midfield has been this season he shouldn’t have any trouble hitting again.

Breakout season for Bodhi Uwland, averaging 23.9 disposals per game.

The defender has hit 20+ disposals in 11 of his last 12 games this season, including Round 7 against the Hawks where he finished with 21.

The Suns clearly want the ball in his hands as a penetrating kick from their back-half, so expect this pattern to continue.

Mac Andrew has hit 15+ disposals in nine of his 13 games in 2026, and was on track to do so again last week before Dimma moved him up forward.

Last time Andrew went up against the Hawks in Round 7, the defender had 20 disposals and was one of Gold Coast’s best.

Be interesting to see whether Andrew is thrown forward again in this, or whether the Suns persist with Walter. I’ll be backing him in down back though.
