BALLARAT RACE 1 – 12:10 AEDT

Punters will be looking to get the day off to a winning start and I think Lighthouse should provide a nice way to do so. The Maher/Eustace runner was having her first ever Australian run at Kyneton last start and couldn’t have been anymore impressive, winning by a whopping 4L on the rain-affected track. She’s displayed talent overseas, so that was certainly no fluke. If she can simply match that performance, she’ll be incredibly tough to beat here.

KEMBLA GRANGE RACE 1 – 12:20 AEDT

Tipped Shibli last week, but was unfortunately scratched – which may have been a blessing in disguise, as Mightybeel scored a dominant victory. The Waller trained Shibli looks well placed here and will look to build on his current form, in which he has won three out of his last four runs, with his only miss at Randwick, where he was blocked for a run and also pulled up with poor post-race recovery. Keen to stick with him again.
