Among them is the favourite Dalasan, who has put in two top performances in preparation for this race. He faces stiff competition though, against the likes of Group 1 Vic Derby winner Warning and the talented Russian Camelot. They aren’t the only chances either in this intriguing affair.

Speed doesn’t look to be overly strong at all here and it might be Themoonlitegambler who leads them away from barrier 1. Sowpods should be prominent from barrier 4 also and Dalasan can push forward early. Warning won’t be far away either, but equal second elect Russian Camelot maps near the tail of the field.

Dalasan looks a deserving favourite in this field after scoring impressive back-to-back wins after travelling to South Australia. Scored by three lengths two starts back before winning in relatively easy fashion last start when jumping to over 2000m. Unraced at the distance however, which is a genuine query.

The Freedman trained gelding showed us why he got his name, sending out an ominous warning to his rivals in the Group 3 Chairman’s last start behind Dalasan. He was a mile back rounding the turn but when the wheels got going he motored home to finish just 2L away. He’s won impressively at this distance before and looks a great chance.

|
