RANDWICK RACE 7 – 16:30 AEDT The second of the two Group 1 races at Randwick looks set to be an absolute pearler with a number of top class runners in play, including multiple Group 1 winners from both Australia and New Zealand. It’s a second battle between the two countries in the space of half-an-hour, with the highly anticipated Alligator Blood/Catalyst race taking place shortly before. Up against a quality field, New Zealand’s Te Akau Shark will have his work cut out however.

Outside of Dreamforce, there doesn’t look to be a ton of speed engaged here. Dreamforce should be able to lead them out and control this race from barrier 4 with either Angel of Truth or Happy Clapper likely to be not far behind. Te Akau Shark draws wide and will be finishing strongly, as will Avilius and Fierce Impact, who are drawn more inside.

Avilius is a supremely talented horse who has multiple Group 1 victories on his resume and is not to be taken lightly. Resumed fairly last start when caught second last at Caulfield before putting in a strong run to the line for a 1.75L defeat. Should improve greatly off that run and is one of the main chances here.

The Shark is yet to record a win in Australia but came extraordinarily close in the Group 1 Epsom last prep behind Kolding. Has a supreme record in NZ and resumed last start with a powerful 3L victory at Te Rapa. Very classy gelding but looks to be a touch short here.
