CAULFIELD RACE 8 – 16:50 AEDT The 2020 Oakleigh Plate rounds out the last of three Group 1 races on Blue Diamond day and it looks to be another cracking race. With a wide-open field and a cracking tempo set to be engaged, this is a very interesting race. Group 1 winner Bivouac is the class runner of the field and will look to kick off his campaign with a victory here.

Pace looks to be frantic up front and will be the talking point of the race. There are a number of speedy frontrunners engaged here including; Pippie, Ball of Muscle, Anaheed and Faatinah. Any number of runners may find the front in the early stages and we can expect the field to be strung out due to this. Bivouac should find a decent spot in the run behind the hot speed.

This talented Colt is first up here and looks to kick off his preparation with a win here. His last first up performance was devastating; he scored a 4.3L length victory at Caulfield before winning two of his next three races. If it were not for some bad luck last prep he could have another victory too. A lot will depend on what happens during the run but if he can find clear running, he should be tough to beat.

The frantic speed battle up front could play right into Bivouac’s hands late here. Maps to get toward the back and can showcase his devastating turn of foot to storm over the top of them late. Was solid first up at Listed grade behind Jungle Edge on the bog Caulfield track. Second up last prep he was only 0.2L away at Group 2 level.
