Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos

A great week of divisional rivalries starts on Friday afternoon with the Broncos hosting the Chiefs. Kansas City currently holds the lead in the division with a 4-2 record. But after two losses on the trot, this a must win game for the Broncos if they have hopes of winning the AFC West. Last week, the Chiefs defensively struggled again with the run and couldn’t stop Deshaun Watson and the Texans in the 31-24 loss. Interestingly, the Chiefs are 3-0 on the road this season and have a good recent record in Denver. So Patty Mahomes and his offence are a good chance of rebounding on a short week. But their defence simply has to be better. Speaking of defence, the Broncos crushed the Titans last week with a home shutout (16-0). Their defensive unit is improving every week and this will be an interesting test of their improvement against the Chiefs attacking weapons. At 2-4, the Broncos really need to pull off a few upsets here and there. So they’re well placed to give the Chiefs a scare in this matchup if the defence brings the same intensity. With the Broncos coming off a shutout of the Titans, it should give them great confidence to also stop the Chiefs. So we have to like the Under, which is 7-0-1 in the Broncos last 8 games against the division and 9-1 overall in their last 10 home games.

Stadium Record

Denver has lost 4 of their last 5 at home but they did beat the Titans 16-0 last week. In Denver, the Chiefs have a 4-1 record in recent times but it’s 6-12 in the last 18.

Head to Head Record

The 2018 series went to the Chiefs on both occasions – 30-23 and 27-23.

Baltimore Ravens at Seattle Seahawks

The headline of the early Monday morning games will be the battle between the 5-1 Seahawks and 4-2 Ravens in Seattle. Baltimore has won their last 2 games against AFC North opponents in the Bengals and Steelers. Lamar Jackson continues to be a defensive nightmare with his elite running ability and his improving passing game. Which sees them rank #1 in the NFL for rushing yards. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks continued the trend of winning close games in 2019 with a 32-28 victory over the Browns. They’re now 3-0 on the road and a 5-1 record has them in the box seat for a playoff berth. They’ll look to dominate the Ravens secondary, which hasn’t been overly great this year. Similarly to the Ravens, the Seahawks running game is top 10 in the NFL as well. With recent high scoring contests in Seattle, this looks like another. The Ravens have gone 4-1 against the Over on the road and Jackson’s form will be a tough matchup for Seattle. Over is also 4-1 in Seattle and 12-3 in the Seahawks last 15.

Stadium Record

Baltimore has a poor 1-5 record in Seattle. The Seahawks have a 2-1 home record in 2019 after 3 close contests.

Head to Head Record

Seattle won the last meeting in 2015, 35-6 and they’ve also won 8 of the last 12.

Best Bet

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys

Both the Eagles and Cowboys hold 3-3 records so the NFC East divisional lead is on the line this Monday. Similarly, both sides also come off disappointing results. Dallas were upset by the winless Jets 24-22 and the Eagles were outclassed by the Vikings 38-20. After 3 straight losses, this is a huge game for the Cowboys. But with Amari Cooper’s status uncertain for this clash, they may struggle again to move the chains. Meanwhile, the Eagles are a bit inconsistent but they usually step up against divisional opponents. As such, the Eagles have won 4 of the last 6 meetings in Dallas. The key will be their running game against Zeke Elliott and Cooper’s injury should help them stop the pass. So we like the Eagles to keep it close and maybe spring an upset.

Stadium Record

The Eagles have won 4 of 6 in Dallas. At home, the Cowboys are 2-1 but lost to the Packers last time out.

Head to Head Record

Dallas swept the season series last year with two close victories.

Best Bet

Eagles +3 $1.85

New England Patriots at New York Jets

It’s another divisional rivalry matchup on Tuesday as the 6-0 Patriots head to New York for a meeting with the fired up Jets. New England will be fresh from last Friday’s 35-14 victory over the Giants. The defence just continues to impress after 3 interceptions and another defensive TD. On offence, Tom Brady is losing players left, right and centre with injury. But with the defence playing at a high level, it’s not a huge issue at the moment. The Jets winless start to the season is over after a resounding home victory over the Dallas Cowboys. QB Sam Darnold was the key man after returning from injury and leading the Jets offence back into relevance. So they’ll look to recapture last week’s form and rebound from an earlier 30-14 loss against the Pats. With the Patriots defence in-play, the Under is always a good bet and we like it here against the Jets. The Under has saluted in 6 of the last 7 meetings and it’s 4-1 at this venue. With the Patriots suffering a bit of an injury crisis, that should limit their scoring potential as well.

Stadium Record

The Jets beat the Cowboys at home last week but have lost 7 of their last 8 in NY. The Pats have won 5 on the trot at this venue against the Jets.

Head to Head Record

New England holds a 7-0 SU record since 2016.
