Odds correct as of 9am Friday 29 March

Race Overview

The Vinery Stud Stakes sets up as a fantastic race for the fillies this year with most runners having a genuine chance of taking out the race. Talented filly Verry Elleegant will no doubt be well backed after her romp in the Group 2 Phar Lap. The track sets up to be somewhere in the Soft – Heavy range which also adds further intrigue.

Race Speed

Outsider Greysful Glamour should take up the running here and there doesn’t look to be much other speed in the race. Autumn who draws next to that runner may also go forward but it looks to be a very muddled field.

Key Runners

  1. NAKEETA JANE ($6.50)

Has been extremely impressive this prep going from strength to strength with each run before coming up against The Autumn Sun last start, who put in a freakish turn of foot in the Randwick Guineas. Was well fancied that day and no doubt will be favoured here as she continues to add to her already impressive resumè.

    1. VERRY ELLEEGANT ($2.40)

Absolutely blew the field away last start in the Group 2 Phar Lap, jumping as a $2.30 favourite before scoring a dominant 3.5L victory. Horse is full of talent but continues to do things wrong in her races – if she can behave during races she will be a super talent. Looks a great chance here regardless.

      1. POHUTUKAWA ($8.00)

Has finished behind Nakeeta Jane twice this prep, beaten just under 2L each time. Impressed in both of those runs and then subsequently scored a fantastic win back in class at Kembla Grange. Has shown a liking to Soft tracks and is certainly one of the main chances here.

        Race Selection

        1. VERRY ELLEEGANT ($2.40)

Very talented mare who still does a lot wrong in her races. Last start over raced throughout and then a touch green in the straight but still demolished the field by 3.5L on a heavy track. Prior to that 2nd behind Amphitrite – another talented horse. With the right run here, McDonald should be able to get her out into the clear and she should be finishing over the top here
