*Odds correct as of 12pm Thursday 8 November 2018

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a group three race held over 2600 metres under handicap conditions at Flemington Racecourse. This race generally attracts a high quality field and in the past has been won by horses such as Makybe Diva and Might And Power.

Race Speed

Northwest Passage looks set to be up on pace as the early leader as the field moves past the grandstand and begins this staying test. Megablast should follow next while a majority of the field will look to settle midfield, which may cause a battle for cover. Jaameh and Midterm will sit off the pace and be charging home down the straight.

Key Runners

  1. Jaameh ($4.80)

On a seven say backup from the Lexus Stakes where he ran half a length to eventual Melbourne Cup placegetter A Prince of Arran. Prior to that, chased hard to almost take down Avilius to suggest he is right around the corner from a group win for the Hayes and Dabernig stable.

    1. Midterm ($8.00)

Was held up for a long period in the business end of the race in the Geelong Cup when fourth while also putting in a credible showing during The Metropolitan back in September. Is fit and ready for the distance and will appreciate the spacious Flemington track with Sydney based hoop James McDonald on board. Look for him to be charging home late along with Jaameh.

      1. Gallic Chieftain ($7.00)

Draws to do little work from the inside barrier and this consistent stallion never seems to run a bad race. Also comes out of the Lexus Stakes where he was home strongly to just miss out on the placings. Trainer Darren Weir should have him set for this race.

        Race Selection

        1. Jaameh ($4.80)

Has been great this preparation and looks right up to this, having run into some very good horses this preparation. Enjoys the Flemington track with two wins and two more placing from just five starts at headquarters. Will more than likely battle out with Midterm down the straight.
