Had excuses two back when narrowly defeated by the talented Amphitrite at Flemington. Last start out to 2000m for the first time and won well, notably one of the only horses to make up ground from the back all day. Will be fitter 2nd<\/sup> go at 2000m and the Flemington track is more likely to suit.<\/p>\n

This is a very weak race compared to The Everest, where he flashed down the very outside to grab third. This horse can run some very slick Group 1 sectionals and despite having to haul the top weight, I\u2019m confident with the right run that he will be mowing them down in the last 100m.<\/p>\n

CRADLE MOUNTAIN ($2.40<\/a>)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Has a terrific first up record (3: 2-1-0) which he\u2019ll look to build on today. Has had two trials leading into this so we can be confident he will be ready to go first up. Was extremely disappointing in his last start as $1.90F, but Vets examination showed he pulled up lame. Confident trainer will have him ready here.<\/p>\n

Looks to be a talented type (8: 3-0-0), including an impressive last start win at Randwick over 1600m. Was well backed that day so money could tell the story. Comes down to Flemington here and although this race is much harder, $16 looks far too big for a horse with his talent.<\/p>\n
