Blue Diamond winner Written By is at Winx odds and rightly so. He returned to Caulfield impressively with a strong on pace win over 1000m and will be fitter from that to tackle the 1200m.

From barrier two he should be able to just jump and put himself on the speed and kick away to the finish.

Encryption from the Godolphin yard would be the next best chance after his impressive win in the Danehill at Flemington and Tony Nicconi from Lindsay Park won the Vain Stakes well here in August and should also go well but you can’t knock Written By.

Tip: Written By $1.65 WIN

Bet Now

I am going with Oregon’s Day from the Mick Price team here. I am a big fan of this horse and I think she is incredibly tough and deserves some good wins this spring.

She has a spectacular turn of foot and I think from barrier nine, the maestro Damien Oliver will be able to find a nice position one off the fence midfield and storm home late.

I Am a Star is also a very, very good horse and has been racing consistently this preparation with a second and two wins.

It will be a fight between her and Oregon’s Day, but she is a horse that likes to race on the speed and from barrier 12 she will have to do a lot of work to jump and come across before the turn at Caulfield.

Tip: Oregon’s Day $3.50 Win

Bet Now

For some value, I like Mick Price’s Basset who is running first-up in this race. He is a talented little horse and he always goes well fresh. He has drawn a wide gate but there is only one turn in the 1200m at Caulfield so that shouldn’t be an issue as long as he gets some cover.

I also like Pedrena who is from the Mick Price as well. She is a talented mare who won in Group 3 company during the Brisbane winter carnival.

It’s hard to go past the winner of the Testa Rossa, Trekking, either. He won that race in style and will be hard to beat over the same course.

Caulfield R6 – Ladies Day Vase
