The Ciaron Maher stable have always had a big opinion of Oceans Fourteen and they have taken their time to get him back to the races after he ran in last year’s VRC Derby. He stepped up to 2400m last start and raced wide without cover and didn’t run out the distance so going back down to around his winning distance looks ideal. Liam Riordan will take three kilos off his back and barrier 11 shouldn’t be an issue as long as they can find some cover midfield.

The favourite The Passage looks the obvious one to beat and it will be tough as the horse has been racing well behind some talented company.

Tip: The Passage Win – $2.65, Oceans Fourteen each way – $6/$2.20

Bet Now

La Pomme De Pin returned to the races at Moonee Valley a week and a half ago and was going well but just ran out of steam in the straight. She will be fitter for that run and is paying good odds. She has a bad barrier in 16 but if she can get out of the gates as quickly as she did at Moonee Valley, she should be able to push forward and sit one or two off the fence and on the speed. By race eight, she could be on the best part of the track.

Lindsay Park’s Thine is the Power looks to be a good winning chance. It won impressively here three weeks ago against two-year-olds and this is only it’s third start, so it will no doubt have some more improvement to come. It’s hard to look past Lindsay Park juveniles leading into the spring.

Sandown R8
