Racing Betting Guide Wednesday, August 8

Canterbury R6

Miss Wonderland is first-up for a new stable and has a good first up record. She won a trial easily a couple of weeks ago and at her best is well and truly up to this grade. Has place at Group 3 level behind Super Too and 1100m is no issue either.

This is a big drop in grade from her last start at Doomben where she finished ninth and got caught on the rail and wasn’t disgraced.

Za Zi Ba has trialled up nicely and has some great stakes form behind Houtzen, She Will Reign and I Am Excited last preparation. Equal favourites Esperance and Junglized will also be there at the finish. Barrier 12 for Esperance is a query.

Tip: Za Zi Ba $6/$2.25 & Miss Wonderland $10/$3.20 each way

Bendigo R5 (Abandoned)

Booradley’s gate is going to get him a bigger price than what he deserves but he is a jump-and-run horse and the 1100m at Bendigo only has one turn.

They have plenty of time to slot into a position, so Cory Parish shouldn’t get trapped too wide. He is second-up for this race and he won at Sandown second-up last preparation.

Last start he was beaten by a good horse who is a Geelong synthetic specialist and lead the whole trip to win by five and a half lengths.

The favourite, Mialign, has been racing well without winning and is stepping down in trip. She has drawn on the inside of Booradley and will be hard to beat.

The other strong chance in the race is Messerschmitt who is resuming from a spell after a short two-year-old campaign earlier in the year.

This horse ran eight lengths behind Kinky Boom in the Inglis Premier at its last start but came out of the run shin sore. Looked to be a good horse but will need to see how it performs against older and experienced horses.

Tip: Booradley win 5.50

Bendigo R7 (Abandoned)

While Arohata ran behind Mirimar last start at Sandown, she was caught wide the whole trip and still managed to finish of the race strongly.

Mirimar sat just off the pace in the run and Arohata made up a lot of ground on him in the final stages so she seems to have an edge on him.

Barrier five also looks ideal for the mare to jump and sit one off the fence, just behind the pace and swoop home late.

Tip: Arohata win $4.80
