The Championships may be over but the Group 1 racing at Randwick continues with the running of Group 1 All Aged Stakes over 1400m under weight-for-age conditions.

A strong field of 12 will line up in the race following the scratching of the Darren Weir trained Red Cardinal on Friday morning. The race features 7 previous Group 1 winners including Le Romain ($8.50), Brave Smash ($7), Hartnell ($9), It’s Somewhat ($26), Clearly Innocent ($26), Trapeze Artist ($2.25) and The Mission ($26).

Last winner, Trapeze Artist was posted $2.60 favourite when final field opened and has since firmed into $2.25. The 3YO colt by Snitzel was ultra-impressive when he defeated a crack field of Australia’s premier sprinters including Redzel and In Her Time.

The interesting runner in the field is Goldolphin’s Hartnell who has been freshened up for this assignment. His last two runs at the 1400m have resulted in victories at Group 1 level and should be primed to run a good race here. He could be value at the $9.

Of the others, Japanese import Satono Rasen ($34) is having his first race start for Chris Waller and largely an unknown quantity. He has recorded 3 victories at 2000m+ but certainly keep an eye on the market for any moves.
