Golden Rose – Saturday September 23, 2017 The Golden Rose is the first 3-year-old Group 1 race during the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival. It often provides a good indicator as to how 3-year-olds are performing ahead of the Caulfield Guineas, Thousand Guineas and Coolmore Stud Stakes which take place later on in the Spring.

The race is held at Rosehill Racecourse over a distance of 1400m with a capacity field of 18 runners. The race generally attracts the top 3-year-olds of the season and despite its prestigious nature, the race has failed to attract a capacity field in recent years. The Golden Rose has a prize purse of $1 million.
