The 2017 BTC Cup is a Group 1 weight-for-age event held over a distance of 1200 metres at Doomben Racecourse with prizemoney of $500,000. The BTC Cup is a Brisbane Racing Carnival<\/a> Group 1 that occurs in Brisbane as part of the Queensland Winter Racing carnival. For the 2017 edition of the Cup the event has been changed to the Darley Kingsford Smith Cup and is now over 1300m.<\/p>\n

Some greats of the Australian turf have won the BTC Cup including \u2013 Hot Snitzel (2015), Sea Siren (2012), Black Caviar (2011) and Apache Cat (2008)<\/p>\n

History of The BTC Cup<\/h2>\n

The race has grown in prestige and was elevated to Group 1 in 2006. The original race name was named in honour of former long-time committeeman of the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club, J.T. Delane and was first run ion 1964.<\/p>\n
