The 2017 Robert Sangster Stakes is a Group 1 weight-for-age event held over a distance of 1200 metres at Morphettville Racecourse, Adelaide with prizemoney of $1,00,000. The Robert Sangster stakes is part of the South Australian Jockey Club Autumn Carnival.<\/p>\n

History of The Robert Sangster Stakes<\/h2>\n

Between 1983 (inauguration) and 2004 the race was called the Swettenham Stud Stakes. In 2005 the race was renamed the Robert Sangster Stakes after prolific owner\/breeder Robert Sangster died in 2004. In 2006 the Robert Sangster Stakes became the only Group 1 for fillies or mares at the 1200m distance.<\/p>\n
