It was a resounding victory especially considering South Africa were bundled out for 242 in the first innings and Australia was 0-158 in reply. Add in Steyn\u2019s series ending injury and no contribution from Amla, and the win is more impressive.<\/p>\n<p>The loss continues to raise questions about Australia. The middle order did not fire again and losing 10-86 in the first innings was concerning. The positive was Warner\u2019s form. He looked Australia\u2019s most damaging batsman.<\/p>\n<p>As both teams head to Hobart for back to back tests, the recovery of both bowling units will be important. Australia bowled during the first four days of the test, including all day in the heat on day three, while South Africa\u2019s workload increased after Steyn\u2019s injury.<\/p>\n<p>To get back into the series Australia has to combat injuries and its middle order needs runs. Smith, Vogues and M. Marsh all failed to make an impact with the bat. Vogues\u2019 latest failure means he has not made 30 in his last seven test innings. Meanwhile South Africa will be looking for more of the same, particularly from rising stars Rabada and de Kock, and centurions Elgar and Duminy.<\/p>\n<p>The final consideration for the second test is the weather as rain is predicted for the first three days of the test.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stadium Record<\/strong><br \/>\nAustralia has played four tests in Hobart in the last six years, for 3 wins and 1 loss. Last season they emphatically beat the West Indies by an innings and 212 runs at Blundstone Arena.
