A field of nine will line up in this year’s edition of the Group 1 Doomben 10,000.

Victorian mare Azkadellia is the $2.80 and comes off a freshen up following her maiden Group 1 win the Queen of the Turf Stakes during The Championships. She had and easy trial at Eagle Farm last week and will no doubt be charging home late.

The other Group 1 winner in the field is Chris Waller’s Delectation ($5.50) who worked home well without much luck in the Group 1 BTC Cup last start. His last win was back in the G1 Darley Classic last year where he defeated the mighty Chautauqua down the Flemington straight during the carnival. He’s got the big plus of having gun jockey James Mcdonald back onboard and has the class to be fighting out the finish.

Matthew Dale’s Fell Swoop ($6) is an honest galloper who has been knocking on the door of his first Group 1 victory. He was beaten home by none other than Chautauqua in the $2.6m Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes. In his most recent start, he was trapped wide in running 5th to Malaguerra in the G1 BTC Cup. He’s racing in terrific form and has drawn ideally in barrier 1.
