Supido has been a very well backed favourite at BlueBet to resume with a win in the Sir John Monash Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Mick Kent trained stallion is only lightly raced but has an exceptional first up record.

“Supido took on the best sprinters in Australia last preparation with runs in the lightning, Challenge Stakes and The Galaxy so this is certainly a good drop down in class and punters are happy to be on him,” said BlueBet CEO Michael Sullivan.

“He has been rock solid in betting at $2.15 and I expect him to be our worst result for the day if he salutes on Saturday.

“I am happy to take him on her though as he will get back in the field and Caulfield can be a graveyard for swoopers.”

Sullivan said the returning Lord Of The Sky was  well in commission at $5.50 along with the Darren Weir trained Chocolate Holic at $4.80.

“Lord Of The Sky is returning to the track after failing to find a home at stud and I am sure he will have support given he has won six times at Caulfield,” he said.

“I would be shocked if anything can cross Lord Of The Sky given he has drawn the inside gate and he may well prove tough for Supido and the others to catch.”

Of the roughies, Sullivan said there had been some small support for General Truce ($26) and O’Malley ($16) at big odds.

All Victorian Spring Final & Winter Championship Series Final Betting Update https://www.betr.com.au/blog/press/all-victorian-spring-final-winter-championship-series-final-betting-update/ Thu, 06 Jul 2017 23:17:43 +0000 https://bb-auae-prd-ext-blog-01.azurewebsites.net/more/victorian-spring-final-winter-championship-series-final-betting-update/ Punters have settled on the Robert Smerdon trained Ability in the All Victorian Spring Final at Flemington with BlueBet CEO Michael Sullivan saying he was the only one punters wanted in early betting.

“Ability is rock solid at $3.10 following his impressive win at Flemington last start and he will run around a very well supported favourite,” Sullivan said.

“There has also been some support for the Hayes and Dabernig trained pair in Tashbeeh ($8.00) and Ruettiger ($9.00).

“It is very open field and although there looks to be plenty of chances in the race; the early support for the favourite suggests he won’t be getting out too far in the betting.”

Sullivan said in the Winter Championship Series Final, punters were looking for value with Tasmanian raider Count Da Vinci ($21 to $16) and Petrology ($13) the best backed early.

“This is a very open race with the favourite being another Tasmanian, Tshahitsi at $6.00 but we have five other horses in single figures just a couple of dollars longer than him.”

Sullivan said punters hadn’t been put off by the short quote for the Tony McEvoy trained Royal Symphony in race four either.

“Punters have stepped into the boom colt again with the super impressive last start winner shortening from $1.50 to $1.35 already,” he said.

Amovation $6.50
Rhythm To Spare $7.50
Coldstone $8.50

Tattersall’s Tiara Press Release https://www.betr.com.au/blog/press/tattersalls-tiara-press-release/ Fri, 23 Jun 2017 01:06:16 +0000 https://bb-auae-prd-ext-blog-01.azurewebsites.net/more/tattersalls-tiara-press-relase/ Press Release – 23rd June 2017

In Her Time has been well backed to win her and trainer Ben Smith’s first Group 1 in the Tatts Tiara at Doomben on Saturday.

The mare was well backed at big odds when finishing second to Impending two weeks ago and Bluebet CEO Michael Sullivan said punters had buttered up again.

“She has drawn awkwardly but she has the early speed to overcome that and she has been backed from $3.40 to $3.20 in early betting,” Sullivan said.

She looked home in the Stradbroke and back against her own sex here, she looks very hard to beat.”

Sullivan said there had been support at longer odds for Sydney raiders Prompt Response ($6.50 to $6.00) and Nancy($12).

In tomorrow’s other race at Doomben, Sullivan said the money had once again all been for the southerners.

“Pemberley has been the best backed in the Tattersall’s Cup ahead of favourite Rudy, while Religify and stablemate Elle Lou have been well backed in the Mumm Quality,” he said.

In Her time 3.20
Prompt Response 6
Bonny O’reilly 10
Eckstein 10
Miss Gunpowder 12
Egyptian Symbol 12
Nancy 12

Stradbroke Handicap Press Release https://www.betr.com.au/blog/press/stradbroke-handicap-press-release/ Thu, 08 Jun 2017 23:41:47 +0000 https://bb-auae-prd-ext-blog-01.azurewebsites.net/more/stradbroke-handicap-press-release/ Press Release – 9th May 2017

Mackintosh has been the big shortener in Stradbroke betting with the Chris Waller trained gelding shortening from $12 to $7.50 with Bluebet after drawing barrier 1.

Bluebet CEO Michael Sullivan said there had been support for a number of runners away from favourite Clearly Innocent after last start Eagle Farm winner drew barrier 20.

“Clearly Innocent has been completely friendless in betting drifting from $3.50 to $4.80 since the draw and punters still don’t want to back him,” Sullivan said.

“Mackintosh has clearly been the best backed but there has also been money at odds for iron horse Burning Front ($21 to $17) and In Her Time ($21 to $18).”

Sullivan said while the Stradbroke favourite was on the nose with punters, it certainly wasn’t the case in the J.J. Atkins with Kiwi filly Melody Belle very popular.

“Melody Belle has been backed from $2.30 to $2.10 with Bluebet and she is still proving popular with punters,” he said.

“There has been some money for Taking Aim and Tangled but punters really have zeroed in on Melody Belle.”

Sullivan said Ruthven had been the best backed in the Derby shortening from $6.0 to $5.00 since the draw.

Michael Sullivan is back with BlueBet https://www.betr.com.au/blog/press/michael-sullivan-is-back-with-bluebet/ Mon, 30 Nov 2015 02:14:16 +0000 https://bb-auae-prd-ext-blog-01.azurewebsites.net/more/michael-sullivan-is-back-with-bluebet/ Press Release – 30th November

Big Betting bookmaker Michael Sullivan has launched a new Australian betting company to take on the wave of English corporate bookmakers who currently dominate the industry.
Sullivan is also returning to the betting ring in Sydney to compliment bluebet.com.au, the new online business.

“I really believe these big English bookmakers don’’t understand what the Australian punter is after and we will be offering a far more personalised service,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan was previously CEO of Sportingbet and Centrebet who were the biggest bookmakers in Australia at the time.

“Back when we started Sportingbet in Australia in 2002, we really gave punters an experience they hadn’t been exposed to before and we will be servicing all punters in the new business whether they bet in $1 or $100,000,” he said.
Sullivan said he also supported calls for the reigning in of gambling advertising during live sport.
“Watching sport is Australia’’s favourite hobby and I really don’’t think it needs to be littered with ads from all these pommy bookmakers,” he said.

“I said the same thing when I was CEO of Sportingbet and I really think some self regulation so Australians can watch sport without been bombarded with betting offers is a good idea.
Sullivan will have his first day back at Rosehill on Saturday for Derby day while bluebet.com.au is already up and running.
