IPSWICH KEY RACES

These two boxes have performed between 15-25% in recent times, far greater than any other boxes. Boxes 3 through to 6 have performed poorly over the years, most likely due to the way the track is set up and distance to the first corner. Winning % by Box Number

The midweek meeting is typically conducted during the afternoon while the Saturday races occur during the evening.  The Meadows track features excellent facilities for both racing and social event, with the club having a large community presence outside of racing. The Meadows and greyhound racing in general contributes over 1,500 jobs and $234 million to the Melbourne Metropolitan area. All meetings are broadcast through Sky Racing and are free to the public. Racing at the Meadows is conducted over distances of 525m, 600m and 725m.

Australia Cup Finalists must win their heat and their semi-final in order to progress to the Australia Cup Final.

THE MEADOWS TRACK RECORDS

Unlike many other greyhound tracks, The Meadows only holds three track records, all of which have been set in relatively recent years. A list of The Meadows track records can be found below;

Distance Time Greyhound Date

NOTABLE PAST WINNERS AT THE MEADOWS

Due to the large number of Group races at The Meadows each year, some of Australia’s greatest greyhounds have competed at the famous track. Fernando Bale, perhaps the greatest racer in Australian history recorded his maiden victory over the 525m distance while in recent times Fanta Bale and track record holder Dyna Double One have all raced successfully at the track.

THE MEADOWS BOX STATISTICS

Over the years, Box 1 has proven to be by far the most successful trap for greyhounds racing at The Meadows. The box has generally performed between 17-21% strike rate in recent years. Boxes 5, 6 and 7 have generally been the worst performing box in recent years, with a strike rate of about 6-10%. Winning % by Box Number

SALE TRACK INFORMATION

Sale Greyhound Racing Club is located within Sale Showground, two and half hours’ drive east of Melbourne’s Central Business District. All meetings are broadcast to Sky Racing and admission to the venue is generally free of charge, with races predominantly held in a Twilight time slot.   Upgrades to the venue in recent years have established Sale Greyhound Racing Club as a first class establishment for entertainment and dining options. Both the bistro and café provide patrons with a variety of options, while the club also facilitates functions for groups between 10 and 250.   In line with many other Victorian tracks, the Sale track surface is sand based and typically holds provincial grade racing over distances of 440m, 520m and occasionally 650m.

SALE KEY RACES

Sale plays host to the Group 1 Sale Cup over 650 metres run on Boxing Day each year as part of the Gippsland carnival, one of only two G1 races held on a provincial track in Australia. The most recent edition of the Sale Cup was taken out by WA superstar Quick Jagger, upstaging Fanta Bale, a winner of the Australia Greyhound of the Year award.

SALE TRACK RECORDS

Sale only holds three track records, over the current racing distances of; 440m, 520m and 650m. A list of the Sale track records can be found below;

Distance Time Greyhound Date
440m 24.295 Aston Bolero 24/07/2016
520m 28.97 Shooting Star 30/03/2008
650m 36.665 Burn One Down 06/07/2017

NOTABLE PAST WINNERS AT SALE

Despite Sale holding status as a provincial track, the track still plays host to the Group 1 Sale Cup each year and can be an important stepping stone for up and coming greyhounds. A number of successful Greyhounds have run the Sale track including; previous Melbourne Cup Winner Whisky Riot; three-time Group One winner Dundee Osprey and the 2010 victor, front running stayer Symmetry.

SALE BOX STATISTICS

Over the years, all of the boxes at Sale have played relatively evenly. This is most likely due to the set up of the track, which allows greyhounds to sort their order out before the first turn and may also be attributed to the slightly better quality of Greyhound racing that occurs at the track, as opposed to that of some other Australian tracks.  Winning % by Box Number

It is the premier provincial greyhound racing club in NSW, located just over 60 minutes west of Sydney’s CBD, with the race club conducting over 120 greyhound race meetings per year.   Richmond races on a loam surface over distances 330m, 400m, 535m, 618m and 717m on both Wednesday and Friday evening with entry free for both meetings. RICHMOND TRACK RECORDS

Richmond holds track records over a total of five race distances; 330m, 400m, 535m, 618m and 717m. All of these are still active distances today. A list of the Richmond track records can be found below;

NOTABLE PAST WINNERS AT RICHMOND

Richmond might not quite hold the same honour roll as some of other more prestigious tracks over the country, but the track has still produced superstars over the years. Arguably the most famous Greyhound to win at Richmond is Feral Franky – a winner of 24 races and a greyhound who missed a placing only twice in his 44 career starts. Feral Franky won several races at Richmond to go along with his Group success elsewhere.

RICHMOND BOX STATISTICS

Over the years, Box 1 has proven to be by far the most successful trap for greyhounds racing at Richmond, most likely due to the narrow circumference of the track. The box has generally performed between 18-22% strike rate in recent years. Despite the narrow circumference, the rest of the boxes have played relatively even, with no discernable difference between Boxes 2 through 7. Winning % by Box Number
